We’re down to 2 weeks until testing V3! In the meantime, we’ve got a little something to keep you busy.

Summer S’more Challenge

The second annual Summer S’more Challenge has begun! Around the game, you’ll find graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate which you’ll combine to make a s’more. Each s’more you create gives both you and your team +1 point.

There are two teams: The Flame Team and The Smoke Team. Each player is randomly assigned a team. Discord channels will be set up for both teams.

The winning team gets 1 credit each. The overall winning player gets 20 credits.

Good luck!

Happy Art Update day! And happy Independence Day for those in the US!

New Crossbreed Art: Irish Sport Horse

The last of the crossbreeds are finally complete: the Irish Sport Horse! Every recognized crossbreed now has its own image.

We’re still working on foal and generic cross body types, but that should be complete in the next 6 months. Finally, we’re working on a couple updates to some of our older breeds. The next art update will be the Arabian!

V3 Progress

We’re still chugging along on V3. Next week’s update will include a video to show off all the cool things we’ve been doing.

Date Changes for V3

Hi all! As you know, we’ve been working really hard on V3. There has been a ton of progress as the game is starting to take shape. When I first started this project, I knew it was going to be a lot to bite off, especially in a 3-month timeline. Fortunately, our progress has remained steady and we’re making a lot of headway.

We’ve put a lot of thought into the best way to transition from V2 to V3. Now that we know where we stand with just 3 weeks to go, we can finally give more solid plans that will be best for V3’s launch. While we’re making a LOT of progress daily on V3, we haven’t fully tested everything and might not get the chance to test it as fully as we need to in the next 3 weeks as we put in the final features and finish up some halfway finished features.

Our plan is to have July 20th as the launch for a testing phase. In this phase, you’ll be able to log into V3 and see everything you own from this version. After V3 is fully tested and you guys have given your feedback, a tentative official launch is set for August 8

You might question why a testing phase is needed. V3 is built on a completely different system than V2. Over the past 2 months, I’ve completely rebuilt the game from the ground up, just carrying over logic and some layout styling. I’ve cleaned up some features and made them a lot better. But with these changes and fixes come new bugs that we wouldn’t want to launch with.

During the testing phase, V2 will remain open and playable. Your data will transfer to V3 on the day testing starts but will be “refreshed” from V2 as soon as testing is over. There may be a small down time around the official launch date to make sure all data carries over.

Thank you guys for being so patient with V3! I know it’s a lot to have yet another version launching only a year after V2. But you’ll be extremely happy with the results and how much the game has improved. It’ll be worth the wait!

Development Update: V3 Progress + Fjords in Foundation Store

Happy Saturday!

First things first. Norwegian Fjords are now available in the Foundation Store.

EDIT NOTE: A few double cream foundations managed to get into the foundation store. We are working on a fix to remove double cream Fjords. Cream generation is temporarily removed until we can edit the code. Also, a very small number of Fjords generated as "White" and have been fixed to remove the white gene. Fjords have a 0% chance of white for their genes. We are monitoring them and fixing any that pop-up. If you pull one please message Curly.

Edit 2: Fjords now have cream generating.

Now onto an update on V3 progress…

V3 Update

We’ve made a lot of progress over the past 2 weeks! You can view the full list here:

The show cron has been moved over. There have been some improvements here and we’ll continue to try to decrease the time the showing cron runs.

Horse Pages

Horse pages have become a bit more complete. Changes are listed below:

  • Offspring list - The offspring now shows if an offspring is retired or not.

  • Show results - Show results now have the show level.

  • Public sale

Retirement Pasture

The Retirement Pasture is in! You can now view your retired horses. Retired horses have a special background so you can easily see that they’re retired. Horses in lineages have a retirement indicator as well.

Spaying and gelding at the vet is now complete. Spaying costs $3,000 and gelding costs $150.

General Store

The General Store has been moved over. It now works the same as the filters on the Construction page.

Items in your inventory now stack if you have more than one item. You can also filter your inventory by item type.

You can now filter notifications to show them by type and refresh your notifications page. You can also delete one or many notifications at a time to keep your notifications page clean.

The forums are now complete! We also have a new WYSIWYG editor that is of higher quality than the current one. This editor has a coding view and will be available for stable layouts.

Bookmarks have been added. A “Bookmark Page” link is now available that will automatically create the bookmark for you. You can now edit the labels.

Game Calendar

The game calendar is now an actual calendar!

Finished with no changes yet from V2

  • News

  • Sales pen

  • User settings (added text editor)

Finished up other small things…

Tested crossbreeds and generic crosses so those are now in. Wrapped up construction and purchasing upgrades. Bank transactions have been added to the bank so that’s also complete now.

Coming up

Next weekend is another art update that includes our last crossbreed needing art: the Irish Sport Horse! We’ll also be kicking off something both fun and nostalgic next weekend with a chance to prepare for V3.

Sun or snow, seasons mangled

Listen close to hear the jangle

Now it's time to spread the cheer

Because V3 is almost here

New Breed & Generator Changes

Happy New Breed Day!

It’s A….

Norwegian Fjord!

The Norwegian Fjord is now available via custom token. Custom tokens will be the only way to get foundation double cream (CrCr) Norwegian Fjords. Breeding for double cream is also very rare so persistence is key! For the custom generator, 2 points will automatically be used because dun will always be selected as since all horses in the breed have dun. The Fjord also comes in all base colors to account for the possible variation as described by their registry. This is also due to having single cream (Crcr) individuals who could potentially be bred to have offspring with no cream. The color names used by registries are currently not being used on Eqc since that requires code time we wish to use for V3. Once V3 launches, we will revisit the possibility of changing these names or, indicating somewhere the registry name. Next Saturday, they will be available in the foundation store.

Custom Generator Changes

The layering system for the custom generator has been tweaked for Dunalino horses (Chestnut+Crn+Dd/DD)). Previously, these would layer the base + cream overlay + Dun overlay in the generator but, when bought they would all use the same Dunalino image. Newly bought Dunalino horses will use the layering system vs. all the same Dunalino image. These horses will currently not be named dunalino but, the palomino variation + dun (Ex. Chocolate Palomino Dun).

Other changes:

Light bay + Crn + DD now uses Light Buckskin base rather than light bay

Seal bay + Crn + DD now uses Seal Buckskin base rather than seal bay

Wild bay + Crn + DD now uses Wild Buckskin base rather than wild bay

V3 Update

I have finished moving over all of our pure and crossbreeds. The marking % for most breeds has been upped so fewer horses will be a solid color. Base genes have been adjusted to reduce the number of liver chestnuts. Appaloosas have had leopard adjusted to reduce the mass amounts of fewspot that occur.

Some text some message..
