Associations and clubs now have their own pages as we start to differentiate between them more and more. You can find both locations in the World.
You can now see both breed and discipline associations split out. If you are a member of an association, you will see it highlighted in yellow.
You can now have images for a club which will show up in the club directory. Associations have game images which cannot be changed.
There is now a separate short description. All clubs will have to write a new one. There is no HTML allowed in this field and it’s limited to 250 characters.
Breed Standard Tiers
If a horse is registered in a breed association, you will be able to see its BS Tier. This will appear as a star rating where it can have 1-5 stars.
1 star = Tier 5 | 2 stars = Tier 4 | 3 stars = Tier 3 | 4 stars = Tier 2 | 5 stars = Tier 1
BS Tiers can be seen before a foal reaches 2 years old and can give you an idea of if the foal will have good BS or not.
This update only applies to breed associations. Breed associations can now create association shows. These shows will cost both money and EXP to enter. A horse can enter 5 association shows per week, and associations can make 5 shows per week. They will run on Wednesdays at noon game time.
Note that breed associations are only for purebred breeds. These act more as real life registries. The next update will most likely allow for clubs to create shows which will include all crossbreeds.
Association shows for breed associations will judge horses on both BS and grooming with a random factor thrown in. You will still earn money for placing, but this system will be a lot more linear than regular showing with a percentage of the showing pot going to horses. The money given out will never be larger than the show pot, unlike regular shows where there is some inflation. 10% of the money from shows will go to the association so it’ll also be like fundraising for them.
Association shows are for horses of all ages so foals can also participate.
Unlike regular shows, these shows have no disciplines or levels. Instead, they are split by BS tier who then compete against each other. There are a few benefits of doing it this way including clubs not having to manually keep up with different show levels. Because the same show could have up to 5 BS tiers, this also means there could be 5 first place winners, one for each tier.
Clubs are now ranked based on Association Points (AP). AP can be earned through showing horses in association shows. Rankings won’t begin to show until the first shows on Wednesday have been run.
As you can see, associations and clubs still need a lot of work. We’re trying to tackle a bit at a time in each update so that we can get closer to them being completed. Between this update and the next development update, we will be closely monitoring show results and player feedback for association shows. Expect to see them slightly tweaked in the future based on those results. :)
If you have no water storage, it now shows a message like the feed storage.
Barrel Racing Association has been added.
Horses should no longer appear twice in the rescue.
Greying foals should now show white markings.
Studs and broods should now show up in your breeding grounds.
The club transfer log should now show member fees for public associations/clubs. It should also now only show horse fees upon approval.
Woo! Another art update is in the books. We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe out there.
Draft Foal Art
If you have a Clydesdale, a Friesdale, or an Irish Draught foal, you’ll now see the draft foal instead of the light foal. Other types will still show the light foal as a default until their specific body type foal image is added.
Generic crosses will depend on the parent breeds body type category. Otherwise, the body type will go to the one with the most percentage.
Eqcetera Body Types (smallest to largest):
Body type category is decided by the average type (Light x Light Draft = Stock because it is the middle size.) If they are beside each other or two body types are between them, the "lighter" of the two will be chosen (Light x Stock=Light and Stock x Light Draft=Stock). The only exceptions are Draft x Light= Light Draft, Draft x Light Draft= Draft, and Draft x Pony= Draft.
Edit: Added "Draft x Light Draft= Draft" 5-23-2020.
Complete list (will also be added to the Wiki under “Breeding”):
You may notice that this isn’t the default background. We have our first background item available in the credit store. Background items have 1 use but are never actually used. They will stay equipped to a horse if you sell, auction, transfer, or surrender it. However, if a horse has a background equipped when they retire, it will show up in your inventory again.
Cherry Blossoms Background
This background will be available until April 30th, but if you miss it, you will see it again next year. We decided to start off with a limited background to help fund future backgrounds. This first background is in the Credit Store but will move to a new location for purchasing backgrounds when our next one is added. There will be regular backgrounds that you can buy for EQD as well.
Happy Saturday! :3
This is part 1 of 3 for association updates. This one focuses mostly on cleanup and making sure the basics work.
You can now see total horses and the founder of the club on the info page of the club.
These should now work for any combination. Please note that the logic for this has changed. If you have only breed(s) selected and no disciplines, horses with any discipline or no discipline at all can register. If you have all disciplines selected, horses without a discipline cannot register. You must have at least one breed selected.
You can now transfer your club to another member of the club. This will automatically make them the president of the club. You will stay as the founder of the club.
If you don’t have anyone you want to transfer to, you can simply step down from a president position. This automatically opens up an election for the next president that will last for 7 days.
Each association and club now has its own forum. These forums will be primarily self-moderated by clubs unless they become an issue. Staff can see all forums without joining and will be checking in from time to time to make sure no individual forum becomes an issue.
The search has a couple new things.
Public stud/brood only
Private stud/brood only
Max and min level
Search Page Additions:
Pagination - hopefully this helps make it more usable with the massive amount of horses
I’ve made some adjustments to the show cron to hopefully speed it up. Let me know what you see.
I did some various code cleanup in this update so that a lot of notices thrown in the code will go away. This will allow us to easier track down specific issues and errors that actually matter. However, this also means that code everywhere has been touched. So if you find something not acting like it’s supposed to, make sure to report it like always. <3
If you want credits at a slightly cheaper price, there are now packages you can purchase. These will not be going away and incentivize spending more in each purchase (so we don’t have to pay more fees in multiple smaller ones :P).
If you are infinitely upgraded or a subscriber, you will no longer see options to upgrade. Hopefully this helps avoid any confusion you could have.
You’ll see a banner for both development and art update news posts.
You should now be able to see all breedable horses in Breeding Management.
You should no longer be able to “over care” for a horse and have it go above 100%.
If you freeze your account, all auctions that include horses will automatically be ended. All horses will also be removed from stud.
The foal tab should no longer collapse if you collapse transport.
In our next 2 development updates, you can expect to see more with associations and clubs. The first will focus on association/halter shows and the second will focus on a crossbreed application process. We’ll also be looking into elections and fixing any bugs associated with those.
This is our first Art Update! It’ll focus mostly on art so that the pretty things can be enjoyed too. ^_^
A quick note that boarding passes are now in effect. If you were over your limit, the extra horses have been kicked from boarding.
New Crossbreed Art: Araloosa
The Araloosa now has art. This brings us up to 10 recognized crossbreeds with art, with only 5 to go!
New Markings for Some Breeds
A couple breeds have new markings now:
Quarter Horse: sooty
American Paint Horse: rabicano & max rabicano
New Default Background
Good news! We found another background artist who fits more into Eqc’s style. We’ve started with the default background, but you’ll soon see more backgrounds making their way to Eqcetera.
Some of you may not even know what the Whispering Crater is because until now, it’s only been a link. Now, you’ll find it as a regular World location, image included. :D
Has anyone found the crater to be profitable?
Estate upgrades for water storage now stacks like feed storage.
Kick rules should now show up if set to 0.
Special characters will no longer prevent you from appearing in results for search and transfers.
Players with all numbers for their name will no longer experience an issue with their links.
When players are downgraded, it now decreases to 150 acres with up to 150 acres of upgrades remaining active.
Next week will be a Development Update so stay tuned! I’ll be looking into the bugs reported for showing and associations/clubs then.
